LIVE RADAR: Heavy downpours hit Central Florida -- again

Plan for possible disruptions to after-school activities

ORLANDO, Fla. – A marginal risk for excessive rainfall returns to the forecast as another round of slow-moving tropical downpours are expected for the next several afternoons.

STORM COVERAGE:

A 60-80% chance of scattered showers will start bubbling up around lunchtime. Storms are expected to pick up around 1-2 p.m., with downpours drifting through. This means another day with delays or cancelations of after-school activities due to lightning.

A similar pattern is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday with rain coverage staying elevated at 70%.

The main weather impacts are lightning, wind and the flooding threat due to relentless slow-moving storms.

TEMPERATURES:

Highs are forecasted to stay in the upper 80s but with plenty of moisture and humidity, it will still feel like 100 to 105 degrees.

TROPICS:

We’re monitoring three areas in the tropics: one with a moderate 60% chance of development and another with a 70% chance within the next seven days.

In the Gulf of Mexico, Potential Tropical Cyclone 6 is expected develop into our next tropical storm on Monday and strengthen into a Category 1 storm by Wednesday as it approaches the coast of Louisiana.

Although Central Florida is not dealing with tropical troubles like Texas and Louisiana, plenty of tropical moisture remains in place.
