Much of Central Florida will see strong storms Monday afternoon, with areas south and east of I-4 under a marginal risk for severe storms.
The biggest threats are gusty winds, frequent lightning and small hail.
Here’s what you can expect in the days ahead:
⚡ Storms Build Through Midweek
- Tuesday–Thursday: The pattern stays active as an old front lifts north. Scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected each day, with Wednesday shaping up as the wettest.
- While the overall severe threat is low, we can’t rule out some strong storms near the boundary.
- Locally heavy rain will be possible in some of the stronger storms.
🧊 Midweek Changes: Saharan Dust Moves In
By Thursday, Saharan dust from the Atlantic will begin to filter into the region. This will:
- Dry out the atmosphere slightly
- Suppress widespread storm development
- Lead to hotter and hazier conditions by the weekend
🔥 Weekend Outlook: Heat Index Near 105 Degrees
As high pressure builds in, we’ll shift to a more typical summertime pattern:
- Daily afternoon and evening storms (40–60% chance)
- Hotter temps, in the low to mid-90s
- Heat index values climbing to 100–105 degrees
