ORLANDO, FL – Strong storms have sparked lightning strikes and several thunderstorm warnings this afternoon.

The strongest storms were located along and around I-75.

A ground stop at Orlando International Airport was lifted, but delays are expected until 8 p.m.

Departures to Orlando International are grounded due to thunderstorms.

Probability of extension is medium (30-60%).

A 29-year-old man was struck by lightning Friday afternoon on New Smyrna Beach. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to officials.

In a thunderstorm warning, storms have the potential to produce:

  • Hail 1 inch in diameter or larger
  • Wind gusts of 58 mph or higher

These conditions represent a serious threat and may cause significant damage to property and pose a danger to life.
