ORLANDO, Fla. – The weather across east Central Florida is turning more active through the weekend, with a chance of a few stronger storms.
An upper low over the Bahamas will track closer to the Sunshine State over the next few days, increasing instability across the area.
Storms Return
As this feature moves in Wednesday, scattered showers will be possible along the coastline during the morning hours, followed by a few inland thunderstorms later in the day.
While the storm coverage is lower than normal (30-40%), some of those storms could turn strong to severe.
The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted part of Central Florida as a Marginal Risk for strong storms Wednesday afternoon and again on Thursday.
The coverage for rain and storms increases Thursday and Friday (60-70%), with the threat for rocking afternoon storms.
With this activity, gusty winds up to 60 mph, heavy downpours, small hail and lots of lightning will be the biggest concern. Remember, lightning can strike miles away, even if its not raining where you are. When thunder roars, go indoors.
Temperatures
At the same time, we’re dealing with classic Florida summer heat.
Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s, but thanks to the humidity, it will feel more like 100 to 105 degrees.
If you’re spending time outside make sure to drink plenty of water, take breaks in the shade or in the AC.
Even at night, it won’t cool off much. Lows will only drop to the mid-70s, so expect muggy evenings and warm mornings.
