ORLANDO, Fla. – A soggy start to the week looks likely as a weak low slowly drifts over Florida, dragging in deep tropical moisture over the region.
That means more rain, and in some spots, a lot of it.
Monday afternoon and evening, the best chance for heavy rain in the Orlando area will be inland, where storm chances sit at 70–80%.
Some drier air may sneak in along parts of Volusia and northern Brevard counties, but it won’t be enough to stop widespread showers elsewhere.
Impact Weather
The ground is already saturated in some areas, so additional rounds of rain could easily lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying spots and areas with poor drainage.
The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted most of the area under a Slight Risk (Level 2/5) for flooding.
Forecast models suggest we could see 1–1.5 inches of rain Monday, with isolated spots picking up 3.5-4 inches.
Under the stronger storms, frequent lightning and strong wind gusts of 50–55 mph could be possible. Due to this threat, the Storm Prediction Center has kept most of the area under a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) for strong to severe storms.
Even with added rain and clouds, we could be nearing Heat Advisory criteria as the tropical air will make it feel close to 105-110 through the day as highs remain in the upper 80s to low 90s.
Tuesday-Wednesday
The wet weather pattern continues through midweek as the low pushes across the state and eventually into the Gulf. This is where the National Hurricane Center is closely watching, giving it a 30% chance of possible tropical development late in the week.
But tropical development or not, deep moisture is locked in, with an 80% chance of rain across the area both days.
Most places will see around an inch of rain per day, but areas under stronger storms could pick up 2 to 4 inches. With saturated grounds, flooding threat remains the biggest concern through Wednesday.
