The National Hurricane Center has highlighted a new tropical wave in the Atlantic.
This time in the Central Atlantic between Africa and the Lesser Antilles.
The NHC gives this tropical wave a 20% chance to develop over the next seven days.
Nearly 60% of the European ensemble members expect development with this feature.
While model guidance suggests development is possible with this tropical wave, the Atlantic Ocean isn’t the most conducive at the moment.
Water temperatures have warmed over the coming weeks, but large plumes of dry, dusty air loom around and behind the disturbance.
It will have to fend off these hostile conditions as it moves west in order to develop.
Tropical waves rolling off of Africa become more common during August and September as Saharan Dust wanes and waters warm.
The next named storm of the 2025 hurricane season is Dexter.
