Dangerous heat in Central Florida, increasing storm chances. Here’s the breakdown

Heat advisory in effect from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

ORLANDO, Fla. – It’s another sweltering day across east Central Florida and if you’re heading outside, be prepared.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the entire area, with dangerous heat index values soaring between 108° and 112°.

High pressure is shifting westward along the northern Gulf Coast, opening the door for more moisture to flow into our area. That’s going to fuel-scattered storms Monday afternoon and evening, especially along the coast where a west to southwest wind will keep the sea breeze pinned.

Storm chances for Monday sit between 30-50%. Some storms may bring strong wind gusts up to 50 mph.

This week

Looking ahead to Tuesday through Thursday, a weak front will stall over north Florida while a low-pressure system may form in the northeastern Gulf. This setup will bring more widespread rain and storms, with rain chances as high as 70-80%.

Some storms could arrive early in the day, especially Tuesday. With high moisture levels in place, locally heavy rainfall is possible, especially near and north of I-4, with 1–3 inches possible, and some spots seeing even more.

The area is under a Marginal Risk for Excessive Rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Clouds and rain will bring some relief from the extreme heat, but it’ll still be muggy. Highs will be closer to the low 90s, with heat index values around 100° to 105°.
