ORLANDO, Fla. – News 6 meteorologist Candace Campos says Central Florida’s saturated ground is still a big concern as rain continues this week.
While the flooding threat isn’t expected to be as widespread as on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, there’s still a decent chance for more rain on Wednesday, especially through the afternoon and evening hours.
Rain coverage is forecast to stay around 60%, bringing scattered downpours and thunderstorms that could again lead to fast, localized flooding.
The ground remains soaked from recent heavy rains, and even typical amounts — up to 1 inch in spots like Ocala, and a half-inch to an inch around Orlando and coastal communities — can quickly cause street flooding under these conditions.
Lightning and gusty winds are the other main hazards, while the threat for hail and tornadoes remains low across the region.
