First full day of fall feels like summer in Central Florida. How high will heat index soar?

Orlando ‘feels like’ temperatures to reach 105 degrees

ORLANDO, Fla. – Even though fall is officially here, the weather in Central Florida this week will still feel very much like summer.

On top of that, dangerous beach conditions continue due to distant Hurricane Gabrielle.

Tuesday

Moisture will increase across Central Florida on Tuesday afternoon, raising rain chances to 50–70%.

Expect scattered storms in the afternoon and evening, with some developing gusty winds, lighting and heavy downpours.

Temperatures will reach the upper 80s to low 90s near the coast and the low 90s inland. Humidity will make it feel hotter, with heat indices up to 105 degrees.

Large ocean swells from Gabrielle are creating very dangerous rip currents at all Central Florida beaches.

This Week

A weak weather system will approach the Gulf Coast and Florida by late week, keeping storm chances moderate (40–60%).

Some slightly drier air may sneak in Thursday night or early Friday.

Highs stay in the upper 80s to low 90s, with heat index values still hitting 100–105.

Weekend Outlook

As we head into the weekend, we are watching the arrival of a weak front on Saturday.

This feature will bring increased moisture and instability to the area, with Saturday shaping up to be the wetter day of the weekend with chances around 60%.

By Sunday, the system may slow down or even stall, keeping conditions unstable.

Rain and storm chances remain in the 40–50% range, though there is a possibility of slightly drier air moving in late in the day or overnight, which could reduce storm activity.

This front is also being closely tracked as it could be the biggest factor in veering two tropical waves away from the East Coast.
