Nice afternoon in Central Florida with changes on the way. Here’s your forecast

Weak cold front brings rain chances

ORLANDO, Fla. – High pressure is sliding east Friday across the Florida peninsula, keeping conditions dry but cool. After a chilly morning, temperatures will recover to near normal through the afternoon, topping out around 70 degrees.

Clouds will steadily increase as moisture builds ahead of an approaching cold front. Friday night won’t be as cold as recent nights, with lows settling into the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Weekend

As we head into Saturday and Sunday, changes arrive. A cold front will push south through the region, bringing increasing southwest winds Saturday, especially north of I-4 where winds may reach 10 to 15 mph with gusts near 20 mph.

Most of Saturday should stay dry, but clouds will be on the increase and conditions will feel more unsettled as the day goes on.

The front moves through Saturday night into Sunday, bringing scattered showers. Rain chances range from about 30-50%, highest to the north. A few showers could linger into Sunday, mainly along the coast south of the Cape, before drier air returns later in the day.

Temperatures will stay fairly mild through the weekend. Highs Saturday will climb into the mid-70s, then cool slightly behind the front on Sunday. Even so, this is not a major cold blast. Most areas will still reach the 70s Sunday afternoon.

Next Week

Looking ahead to next week, high pressure builds over the western Atlantic and becomes the main weather driver. This will bring generally light onshore winds and mostly dry conditions.

While a stray coastal shower can’t be ruled out, widespread rain is not expected.

The bigger story will be the warming trend, with temperatures climbing each day. Highs by the end of the week could reach the upper 70s to low 80s.
