Need allergy relief? Here’s how this cold blast could alter pollen numbers in Central Florida

Wind chill expected to dip into 20s, 30s in Orlando area

ORLANDO, Fla. – A blast of rain followed by much colder air will (hopefully) bring a noticeable dip to pollen levels across Central Florida heading into the weekend.

After the unusually warm week we just experienced, pollen season has had a chance to jump-start already this year.

Ahead of the next cold front, pollen counts remain elevated as warm, breezy conditions continue to lift and spread allergens through the air.

At this point of the year, tree and grass pollen remain the main pollen producers in Central Florida.

As showers move through late Wednesday night into Thursday, rain will help wash pollen out of the air, providing temporary relief for allergy sufferers.

Pollen Number Outlook

The bigger impact arrives behind the front, as colder temperatures, gusty northwest winds and much drier air move in. This pattern will sharply reduce pollen production and spread through Friday and Saturday.

Wind-chill temperatures later this week are expected to dip into the 20s and 30s across Central Florida.

Another shot of cold air Monday should suppress plant activity into early next week, bringing more cold and frosty mornings,

While pollen will eventually rebound once warmer weather returns, this stretch of cold and dry conditions should offer a brief but welcome break for allergy sufferers.
