Summer sneak peek: Record heat, rain in Central Florida

Highs reaching the upper 80s by the weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – Get ready for a preview of summer across east central Florida as we track near record warmth and the return of daily shower chances.

Rain Chances

Through the weekend, an east southeast breeze will continue to push moisture inland, helping to spark isolated to scattered afternoon showers.

Rain chances stay around 20 to 40 percent through Friday, then increase slightly to about 40 to 50 percent Saturday as moisture builds. While widespread storms are not expected, daytime heating could allow for a few lightning strikes during the afternoon hours.

Temperatures

Temperatures will stay warm for this time of year. Highs today will reach the low 80s along the coast and the mid 80s inland. It gets a little warmer into the weekend with highs in the low 80s near the coast and mid to upper 80s for inland neighborhoods.

Spring Forward

And don’t forget to adjust your clocks this weekend. Daylight Saving Time begins early Sunday morning, meaning we spring forward one hour and start gaining more daylight in the evenings. Sunset on Sunday shifts to near 7:30 p.m.

Next Week

Looking ahead into next week, rain chances drop off as slightly drier air moves in. Only isolated showers are expected with highs staying warm in the mid to upper 80s.
