Central Florida warming up before midweek storms move in

Weak front increasing rain on Tuesday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida will stay warm and mostly dry to start the week, but a weak front will bring scattered showers and a few storms Tuesday and Wednesday.

Monday

Another dry and warm day is in store across Central Florida.

Afternoon highs will climb into the 80s, with a breezy west wind developing through the afternoon and evening. Lower humidity and gusty winds will also lead to elevated fire weather concerns.

Tuesday & Wednesday

A weak cold front will move into Central Florida on Tuesday and then stall near the coast into Wednesday.

As the front approaches, winds will turn northeast and increase along the coast, with gusts up to around 20 mph at times.

Moisture will also increase, leading to scattered showers and a few storms Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday, especially across northern and coastal areas.

A couple of storms could become briefly strong, producing gusty winds, lightning, and locally heavy downpours.

As the front stalls, there is also the potential for repeated rounds of rain along the Volusia and Brevard County coastlines, which could lead to locally higher rainfall totals.

Showers may linger into Wednesday morning before gradually shifting south through the day, with a few storms still possible into the afternoon.

Temperatures will cool slightly near the coast, with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s, while inland areas remain in the low to mid 80s.

Strong currents of water moving away from shore.
Beach hazards

A higher risk of rip currents is expected to return from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Late week into the weekend

Drier weather returns Thursday into early Saturday, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures warming back into the 80s.

Another cold front is expected to approach late Saturday into Sunday, bringing another chance for showers, especially along the coast.

Behind that front, temperatures will ease slightly, with highs returning closer to normal in the mid to upper 70s by Sunday, along with breezy conditions.
