"The latest models push Erika east," Local 6 meteorologist Tom Sorrells said.  "It looks better for now, but there is still a lot of uncertainty past day three."

Sorrells said Florida remains in the storm's "cone of uncertainty" as Erika approaches the Leeward Islands, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Erika is expected to move through the Leeward Islands Wednesday night and reach the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico by Thursday. The storm may threaten Florida Sunday-Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Erika was centered Thursday morning about 30 miles southeast of Antigua and is moving west near 16 mph.

The storm's maximum sustained winds are 50 mph, with some slow strengthening forecast over the next two days.

Officials said it's important to note that Erika's projected path could move 240 miles in either direction, citing the wide range of the hurricane center's "cone of uncertainty."

Meanwhile, overnight lows in Central Florida will be in the mid- to upper 70s.

Thursday's high in Orlando will be near 90 degrees, with a 60 percent coverage of rain.

"Rain chances this weekend will be highly dependent on Tropical Storm Erika's track," Sorrells said.  "We are expecting at least a 50 percent coverage through Sunday."
