WASHINGTON, D.C. – A Cocoa Beach man was sentenced to two years of probation for his actions at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Dillon Paul Homol was arrested in March 2021 after some of his former classmates reported him to federal investigators when they saw pictures and video on social media showing him inside the Capitol.

He was convicted of three charges by Federal Judge Jia M. Cobb in September, including entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds and disorderly conduct in a restricted building.

On Thursday, Cobb sentenced Homol to 24 months’ probation for each count to run concurrently and fined him $4,000.

Prosecutors had been seeking prison time.

Homol’s half brother David Homol was arrested by federal authorities last month.
