Man barricades himself after Orlando shooting, deputies say

Deputies believe man same gunman in other shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man barricaded himself inside of his home after deputies believe he was involved in two shootings.

Deputies said the first shooting happened on Yucatan, where the man allegedly killed a mother of two.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said at the overnight press conference that the alleged shooter, Manuel Feliciano, 50, had a relationship with the woman and there were prior domestic violence allegations.

In the second incident, the man shot a man in his 30s near the 5200 block of Second Street was Feliciano's boss who may have fired him Friday and that he was out for personal vengeance. Deputies said the victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

When deputies found the shooter at his home, 2916 Annandale Drive, they attempted to arrest him. That's when he started shooting at deputies, who fired back, the Sheriff's Office said.

About a half hour later, the man started shooting at deputies again. An extended operation to avoid any further injuries was initiated and after midnight a SWAT team was able to enter the home and secure Feliciano. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries and will be booked and charged.

As in normal in deputy involved shootings, Demings has requested the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to conduct an independent investigation. The Orange County Sheriff's Office Professional Standards Section will conduct an administrative review.

No deputies were injured in the incident, the Sheriff's Office said.

News 6 spoke with the former husband of the 45-year-old female victim. He said the victim moved from Peru in the mid-1990s. He said the victim claimed Feliciano smashed her car windows a few weeks ago and the two had been romantically involved.

News 6 is choosing to not release the victim's name because it has not been released by the Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday, her former husband said she dropped her two youngest children off by him so she could attend a court hearing.

Court documents show the victim filed a "repeat violence" motion against Feliciano.

The victim's youngest two children are staying with a relative. Her oldest son is currently staying with her family in Lima, Peru.

Thirty to 40 homes were evacuated due to the incident. Traffic was being diverted on Edgewater Drive at Lee Road and at Forest City Road.
