DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A parent was arrested Thursday in Volusia County on suspicion of sucker-punching a school principal, knocking him to the ground.
Antonio Goodin, 35, of Daytona Beach, was arrested on charges of battery against a school employee.
According to a charging affidavit, on the morning of December 10 the principal of Richard Milburn Academy High in Daytona Beach went to Jolly World, a store across the street from the school.
While entering the store, the principal was approached by a man, later identified by police as Goodin, who punched the principal in the face when he turned around, officials said. The principal suffered a split lip and was knocked to the ground by the punch, officials said.
According to the charging affidavit, the principal said there was an incident in which Goodin's son arrived late to school in late October 31 and he was removed from the school campus by a Daytona Beach police officer.
Goodin threatened the principal later that day, according to police, who issued a warrant for him on Thursday.
Goodin was arrested on Thursday and taken to jail.
