Ex-employee fatally stabs current employee at Walmart, deputies say

Incident reported on Lee Road

ORLANDO, Fla. – A former employee fatally stabbed a current employee at a Walmart Neighborhood Market gas station Wednesday morning, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The stabbing was reported at the store at 902 Lee Road shortly before 9 a.m.

Officials don't know what led to the stabbing, but the victim's aunt told News 6 it was revenge.

"I knew something like this was going to happen," Sabrina Jones said.

The victim, identified Wednesday afternoon as Davon Brown, 25, died at Florida Hospital South from his injuries. The suspect, Caswayne Williams, 23, fled the scene on foot, officials said.

He was arrested at West Fairbanks Avenue and South Wymore Road a short time later, deputies said.

Brown was Williams' supervisor when he worked at the store, according to Jones, and she said he gave her nephew a lot of trouble.

"He said he would always talk trash to him. You know, curse at him? He was mean to him, and didn't want to listen," she said.

She said Brown complained to his supervisors, and soon, Walmart took action.

"He called me and said he'd gotten fired," Jones said. "I said, 'Davon, just watch your surroundings. You never know what a person might do.'"

The victim's cousin said Brown was a family-oriented man who stayed out of trouble and was planning to go to college.

"He's a favorite among the family known for smiling and laughing all the time. He never liked drama and wasn't into the streets," Quaye Diaz said. "He was an amazing person. No one can fathom this happening to him, it still feels unreal to us."

A Walmart spokesperson said the gas station will remain closed today. However, the store is open for business.

“The entire Walmart family is saddened by this tragic loss. His was a senseless crime. Right now, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our associate," the company said in a statement. "We will continue to work with law enforcement throughout this investigation.”

Williams will be charged with first-degree murder.

He was booked in the Orange County Jail with no bond.
