News 6 sister station WJXT in Jacksonville reports that snow flurries were in the area. A News 6 viewer also reported that there were flurries in St. Augustine as well.

Light rain will move through parts of the area on Saturday, bringing colder air and windy conditions. The high Saturday will be in the mid-50s, but wind speeds will be 20-30 mph with gust up to 40 mph. This will make it feel like it’s in the 30s.

Small craft warnings are in effect Saturday for the coastal areas, with rough seas in the forecast.

Two low pressure areas on the eastern seaboard are causing the low temperatures and bringing moist air off the ocean dumping snow into areas from southern Georgia up to New York and beyond.  These same low pressure areas are responsible for the cold air moving into the state.

The weather in Florida on Saturday is causing some issues. The Skyway bridge was closed for a time due to high winds, and Duke Energy said that 1,000 people lost power in Orange City when a tree fell on equipment.

Saturday afternoon will see clear skies which will drop the temperatures even lower overnight. Freeze warning are expected to be in effect for certain parts of the state.
