Security guard shot at MegaBus station near Orlando

Argument between man, woman sparks shooting, deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A security guard was shot late Thursday as he tried to break up a fight that started with an argument on a MegaBus, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting was reported around 10:30 p.m. at the Orange Blossom Center at 4636 S. Orange Blossom Trail near Orlando.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said a man and woman were arguing on a MegaBus, which stopped at the Orange Blossom Center. As they got off the bus, a relative of the woman began fighting with the man, and the security guard tried to break it up and was shot, deputies said.

Darryl Johnson, a bus passenger who witnessed the shooting, said the guard tried to chase the shooter after he was shot.

"They ran away and the security guard was still trying to chase them after they shot him. He still was just trying to chase them and grab a hold of them and stuff," Johnson said.

Johnson said the shooting was "ridiculous."

"It's not safe. We can't even catch the mega bus without a fight or a shooting going on," he said.

The guard was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious but stable condition, according to deputies.

The Sheriff's Office has not said who shot the guard or where he worked.

The shooting is under investigation.

No other details have been released.
