Multi-Platform Executive Producer, News

WKMG-TV posts job opening

Graham Media Group in Market #15 Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne is looking for a nightside Multi-Platform Executive Producer to join the high-performing team at WKMG News 6! This is a skilled and ambitious newsroom leader who can motivate a team of producers to execute compelling newscasts, digital content, and streaming content that all meet the News 6 brand and its differentiators.

This person is also a natural leader who can sharpen the writing, decision-making, creativity, competitiveness, and editorial judgment of the team around them and make sure that strong content carries through to our digital and streaming platforms, too.

The best candidates are also motivated to improve lives in the communities we cover for the better through local reporting that informs, protects, and holds people accountable. And they bring energy and drive to a committed team whose goals include growing the share of audience, growing the station’s brand, and growing the overall impact News 6 has on Central Florida.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Success in this role is measured by three things: how strong and trustworthy your editorial product is, how well that content travels across our platforms to grow audience and reach, and how well you lead and develop the multi-platform producers around you.

About 50% of this role is content and editorial: leading the day-to-day production and quality of a market-leading newscast, sharpening writing and storytelling, making smart editorial calls, and coaching teammates. 20% is making sure that strong journalism extends across platforms to keep our content consistent and competitive on ClickOrlando.com (one of the largest news website audiences in the market) and the 24-hour News 6+ Stream.

The remaining 30% involves partnering with the News Director, Managers of Content and Coverage, and other Multi-Platform EPs to coach and develop the nightside team around you, from reporters to producers to anchors to other journalist teammates on the shift.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead the day-to-day production and editorial quality of a newscast — story selection, structure, pacing, and presentation that’s high-energy, clean, and competitive.
  • Copy-edit a half hour of news to ensure it’s conversational, clear, and accurate.
  • Coach producers, reporters, and other teammates on writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment, raising the standard of execution and ensuring consistent performance across the daypart.
  • Monitor breaking news around the market and make sure the newsroom responds competitively — from field crews and logistics to how the coverage carries across TV, streaming, and digital/social– and be aggressive on cutting in on multiple platforms.
  • Make sure strong journalism extends across our digital and streaming platforms: that ClickOrlando.com content and stream segments are executed consistently and drive engagement, writing and publishing as needed.
  • Help develop workflows and stay current on streaming and digital tools so our content keeps pace with how audiences watch and read.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Strong newsroom producing experience — a track record of building smart, accurate, and competitive newscasts with high-quality local journalism.
  • Exceptional writing, copy-editing, and video editing skills, with a special focus on storytelling that captivates and retains viewers.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills: ability to onboard, train, coach and collaborate.
  • Strong editorial judgment and critical thinking skills — the ability to make fast, sound calls under deadline pressure.
  • An intuitive understanding of the metrics behind both broadcast and digital/streaming success, and how to use them to inform content decisions.
  • Strong tech IQ to learn new tools quickly and adapt them to changing audience behaviors, with proficiency in content management systems.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, mornings, or holidays, and to lead coverage during breaking news and severe weather events.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • A self-starter with excellent time management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communications, Convergence Media, or another related field preferred.
  • Prior management experience.

Interested candidates, please submit your resume with relevant news coverage and specific leadership examples to WKMGCareers@wkmg.com.
