$203 million second phase could open by 2020
ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange County commissioners have given the green light for funding to help finish the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Commissioners on Tuesday approved $45 million in tourist tax money for phase two of the project.
The second phase will create a third theater, Steinmetz Hall, and will be home to many local performing arts groups.
In all, over $200 million has been raised for the project.
Those behind the project believe groundbreaking could take place in January, with opening possible in 2020.
