ORLANDO, Fla. – A Tony Award-winning Broadway musical based on S.E. Hinton’s 1967 book and the 1983 film adaptation is coming to Orlando.
Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, “The Outsiders” follows 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend, Johnny Cade, and their Greaser family of ‘outsiders.’ They are a working-class gang pitted against their upper-class rivals, the Socs.

“The Outsiders” is a coming-of-age musical exploring the complexities of self-discovery as the Greasers dream about who they want to become in a world that may never accept them.
The musical has themes of friendship, family, belonging, and the realization that there is still good in the world.
The musical received 12 nominations at the 77th Tony Awards in 2024 and won four awards, including Best Musical. The musical’s cast album was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album earlier this year.
