ORLANDO, Fla. – Some Harry Potter magic is making its way to an Orlando stage, marking a Florida debut and the only Florida stop on the tour.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” follows Harry Potter’s headstrong son, Albus. Harry is working at the Ministry of Magic, and Albus is just starting out at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

When the sorting hat puts Albus in a different Hogwarts house than his father, he becomes friends with the son of Harry’s rival, Draco Malfoy. The divide between father and son becomes stronger, setting off a chain of choices that leads Albus to alter the past and reshape the future, with unintended consequences.

The show’s description says the audience can expect a race through time, spells, an epic battle, and, of course, some theatre magic.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” premiered in London’s West End in summer 2016 and then made its Broadway debut in 2018. That same year, it won six Tony Awards, including Best Play.

The show is running inside Walt Disney Theater at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Jan. 24 - Feb. 15.
