Nike announced last week that it has designed a new shoe for “everyday heroes,” including nurses, doctors, home health providers and others in the medical field that tirelessly support patients.

The Nike Air Zoom Pulse “confronts a range of medical-worker-specific challenges,” aiming to provide comfort for long periods of standing, along with support during hurried movements in emergency situations.

Nike said healthcare work is physically and mentally demanding when many professionals walk approximately four to five miles a day and sit for less than an hour during a 12-hour shift.

The shoe’s look features a laceless face with a protective coating to help make cleaning easier.

The Pulse has a “full-rubber outsole, a flexible drop-in midsole with Zoom Air heel unit and a heel fit so secure, it feels like a soft, snug hug,” Nike officials said in a news release.

Other features include a coated toe box to protect against any type of spill.

Nike took the traditional clog design and made it athletic.

While designed for those in the medical field, the shoe can be purchased and enjoyed by anyone.
