Getting Results Award travels to Angel Wings Parrot Rescue in Brevard County

Founder Cindy Nichols nominated by volunteer

MALABAR, Fla. – Cindy Nichols, Founder of Angel Wings Parrot Rescue, is this week's Getting Results Award winner.

Nichols has been working with rescued parrots for the past 11 years.

"I just realized it's my passion," Nichols says. "It's why I get up every day."

The birds arrive with many different stories. Nichols says they are often surrendered by owners no longer able to take care of them. Many have medical issues related to neglect or abuse.

Angel Wings Parrot Rescue usually has about 50 birds in residence at any one time.

Nichols says she is usually able to place two or three birds a month in adoptive homes.

Volunteer Claire Wilker nominated her for the award.

Wilker says in her nomination form, "She loves each and every bird that resides in her home. She truly only wants what is best for each bird."
