ORLANDO, Fla. – When Dani Sekelsky first stepped into a WWE ring, something clicked. Now, as the winner of WWE LFG Season 2, she’s ready to prove she belongs among the elite performers in NXT.
“I’m not in wrestling to get in and get out,” Sekelsky declares with conviction. “I’m in wrestling to show people that if you want something, you can achieve it. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what your background is, the hardships that you’ve been through.”
Learning from The Deadman
As a member of Team Undertaker during LFG Season 2, Sekelsky received invaluable wisdom from one of professional wrestling’s most iconic figures. The Undertaker’s guidance went beyond mere ring mechanics, focusing on the art of storytelling and creating lasting memories.
“He made us know that it wasn’t about what we do in the ring. It’s about how we make people feel, the moments we create that are going to be unforgettable,” Sekelsky reveals. “Working with probably the greatest of all time in storytelling, I learned how to tell a story and that was the most important thing to do every time I step in the ring.”
From Fan to Performer
Sekelsky’s journey to WWE began as a young fan attending live events with her grandmother in Hartford, Connecticut. Though she drifted away from wrestling during her high school and college years, a unexpected message from WWE during her senior year reignited her passion for the industry.
“The first time I got in a ring, something clicked in my brain,” she remembers. “I was like, ‘this is awesome.’ I could see myself falling in love with this. And as soon as I got to the Performance Center and had the chance to train, even for a week alone, I fell in love with what I was doing.”
Women’s Wrestling Evolution
During her time on LFG, Sekelsky also trained under Mickie James, gaining perspective on the evolution of women’s wrestling. James shared her experiences from an era before NXT’s developmental system, including her six-year journey before making her TV debut.
“She really made it about the opportunities that they gave her and seizing them,” Sekelsky explains. “Whether it was a two-minute match or standing ringside for 30 seconds... she showed us if she took that opportunity any differently, she may have not been in that same position.”
Eyes on the Future
With her NXT contract secured, Sekelsky has bold ambitions for her future in WWE. “My immediate goal is that TV debut on NXT, crushing it, getting out there, showing the crowd, especially for those who didn’t watch LFG, who I am and what I’m about.”
Responding to online commentary suggesting she might blend into the roster, Sekelsky is adamant about standing out.
“I can’t wait to show people that I’m not here to blend in. I am here to take over, whether that takes months or years. I’m here to be a winner and to be a champion.”
Like many who dream of WWE superstardom, Sekelsky has her sights set on wrestling’s grandest stage.
“Of course I want a WrestleMania moment. You’re not doing this if you don’t want that,” she states. For now, though, her focus remains on making the most of every opportunity with NXT’s talented women’s roster, which she considers “the best women in all of professional wrestling.”
