I say it a lot. Many of us move to Central Florida because we like it hot, right?

Lots of people are loving it! The beaches have been PACKED as we reach record-high temperatures.

This week may be a little TOO much for some of us, considering it’s FEBRUARY (typically one of the coldest months nationwide)! Instead of the cool mornings and mild afternoons that we expect in Florida winter, we are experiencing record heat across a large part of Central Florida for several days! We have been running 10 degrees above our average. Now we’re running near 90 degrees! The average high for Orlando is 76 degrees.

Even as we head into the weekend, we can expect temperatures in the mid-80s rather than those low- and mid-70s we SHOULD be experiencing.

Will we see winter again? ❄️❓

With all this talk about record heat and highs near 90 degrees, some might be wondering, “Are we officially done with winter?” Hey Insiders, it’s meteorologist Candace Campos bringing you a glimmer of hope that winter is not over ... yet!

On average, Central Florida experiences its last cold front right before the official start of spring. Click here to see the timeline of our last fronts.

☀️Parts of Central Florida reaches drought status 🏜️

With the exception of the last 10 days, it’s been gray and cool more often than not in Central Florida. Meteorologist Jonathan Kegges with you. The rain component to that, however, hasn’t amounted to much even though there has been rain around.

Before the dry season, which we are currently in, it was predicted that drought would develop across parts of Florida. Click here to see where we stand.

🏴‍☠️ Ahoy, me hearties! Green flash at sunset is science, ya say 🔬

Hey there, Insiders! It’s Meteorologist Samara Cokinos here with a different kind of story this week. Last week was spider season, which still has my skin crawling, but this week we’re talking about a rare event that can happen at sunset.

The green flash! I hope you read that in a pirate voice because the flash has been talked about among pirates and mariners for centuries. Read more about how the green flash phenomena is actually science and not just a tale from Davy Jones’ locker by clicking here.
