Gunman sought in fatal Azalea Park shooting

Orange County deputies find man shot inside car

AZALEA PARK, Fla. – A man was shot and killed Monday night in Azalea Park, and authorities are searching for the gunman.

The shooting happened about 8:40 p.m. on Loquat Lane, north of State Road 408.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, a 911 caller said that his friend had been shot.  Deputies found the victim, described only as a Hispanic man about 30 years old, critically injured inside a green Honda Accord.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and later died, deputies said.

"Anytime you have shots fired in a residential neighborhood, there's a chance that somebody in their house or even walking down the street could be hit," Orange County sheriff's Lt. Paul Hopkins said.

A motive for the shooting is not known, but deputies said it's believed the victim knew the shooter.

Deputies continue to search for clues in the shooting.  Anyone with information is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
