Deputies looking into murdered babysitter's eerie Facebook post
Facebook post says ex-boyfriend threatened her life
DELAND, Fla. – Volusia County detectives are looking into an ominous post that appeared on a murder victim's Facebook wall not long before her death.
Over the weekend, Margaret Gee's roommates left her to babysit their toddler in their Deland home. They came back home and found her dead on her bed with fresh injuries all over.
Deputies said they are aware of the eerie post where the 59-year-old's Facebook post describes being threatened by her ex-boyfriend.
The Facebook post reads:
"As of friday [my ex-boyfriend] has been kicked out of my house . He has stolen all my silver jewlery and all my swards. This is as of now what I know of for now, there may be more? He has also thretened my life, on my laptop my other roommate found how to use poisons primarly injected ones. Like caster been clorene, arsinec and such. All of you my friends were right in telling me to get rid of him. Thank the higher power that his final plans failed. Thank All of you for caring so much and you are all pure gold to me I love you all."
When Local 6 asked Gee's ex-boyfriend about the post and the poison allegation, he replied, "That was a misunderstanding. I like to know things. Poisons are something to know."
He went on to say "Death happens. It's unfortunate that hers was this violent. But, it happens."
Local 6 is not naming Gee's ex-boyfriend because deputies have not named anyone in their investigation. They said they have interviewed a person of interest, but have not made any arrests and will not name the person of interest.
Gee's ex-boyfriend declined to answer when asked if he was a person of interest. Instead, he blames one of Gee's relatives, saying that relative walked through the crime scene and changed the locks hours after her murder.
"I'm worried about contamination of evidence," he said. "Why isn't he in jail?"
He said when he and Gee started fighting, they decided to break up about a month ago and the break-up was mutual. Deputies said they had no reports of domestic violence in the home associated with him and Gee.
"She was a wonderful person. She did have problems, but who doesn't? And her passing is yes, sad. However, somebody obviously just didn't like it -- or her -- whatever. Something happened in that house that I don't know about," he said.
Deputies said they have collected evidence in the case, including the Facebook post, but will not release any other details about their investigation.
