ST. CLOUD, Fla. – Osceola County deputies arrested four suspects in connection with a shooting last week that killed one woman and critically injured one man.
Deputies arrested David Eugene Smith, 20, a registered felon and Cody Lee White, 19, a convicted felon. Smith and White are being charged with with murder, attempted felony murder and armed robbery possession of a firearm by convicted felon.
Deputies also arrested Brandy Leigh Taylor, 22, and Kaitlyn Alisa Robare, 18 whom they said they assisted Smith and White fleeing. They were charged with accesory after the fact.
Anita Louise Smith, 59, of St. Cloud, was shot and killed about 2:20 a.m. in the 5600 block of Lake Lizzie Drive in St. Cloud. Deputies said they believe David Smith and White were in the area for drug-related purposes and she was shot when she went outside after seeing the suspicious vehicle.
Osceola County sheriff's deputies said they found Smith dead at the scene. A man was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
A reverse 911 call was made to residents in the area to make them aware of the shootings.
"I was asleep. I was in a drowsy mode, and I woke up and heard two shots," resident Michael St-Cyr said.
He said he thought those gunshots came from hunters at first.
The reverse 911 call was sent out at 4:45 a.m. and said two shooters were on the loose after killing a woman was shot and killed and seriously injuring another man.
"It's scary, really scary," St.Cyr said.
"We had helicopters flying all around, lights were flashing." said another neighbor. "We had to stay awake and look around."
