Gilmore qualified for the tournament by posting a perfect game with the New York Yankees and his team, the Red Sox. The key to the game is to get the most points during a perfect game - in other words, use the worst pitcher to beat the best team. Gilmore scored more than 800 points by using Kyle Drabek and the Toronto Blue Jays against the Red Sox.
He then had his choice as the No. 3 seed of teams to choose and he chose his favorite team's arch rival - the New York Yankees. That strategy and his knowledge as a pitcher with BCC led to the $1 million win.
"The knowledge of the game definitely helps. But being a pitcher helps the most," Gilmore said. "I throw exactly how I would throw and when I am hitting, I think like a pitcher."
So now that he is the newest member of the "Perfect Club," what is he planning to do?
"Pay off my student loans, invest and of course - Mother's Day is coming," Gilmore said.
