$50,000 in offerings stolen from Orlando megachurch

Police investigate theft at First Baptist Church of Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – About $50,000 in offerings was stolen from the First Baptist Church of Orlando, possibly jeopardizing the identities of church members.

The money was recently stolen from the 125-year-old megachurch, which is located on John Young Parkway near Interstate 4.

Thousands of dollars in checks and credit card contributions were included in the $50,000, which was intended to support overseas mission work, the church says.

A pastor says it's the first time the offering has been stolen from the church, which is home to thousands of members.

Police are investigating the theft.
