MAITLAND, Fla. – Desks were still being assembled and boxes unpacked as Maitland city employees spent their first day in the new City Hall complex.
The $4.2 million project was ready for occupancy today after a 10 month construction period.

The building is the latest component in a plan to revitalize and redevelop Maitland's core business district.
Maitland Community Development Director, Dick Wells says it will be a multi-day process getting settled in the new building.
"Its always tough to move, but everyone's excited to be in the new building." Wells said, adding "The advantage is having all the city offices under one roof instead of spread out across the city."
Wells says the council chambers will be the showpiece of the building. While still under construction, it will feature custom woodwork and a much improved A/V system.
The next council meeting is scheduled for August 13, with plenty of work still to be done.
"I'm holding my breath that we'll be in," Wells said with a laugh. He added that some aspects of the project were kept simple, allowing extra spending on the chambers.
