Marion County teacher arrested on sex battery charges with 2nd student

Teacher previously accused of housing runaway student

OCALA, Fla. – An Ocala teacher already charged with having sex with a student has been arrested again after a new accusation that he had sex with another teenage girl.

Marion Military Academy teacher Duane Adams, 54, was arrested on Wednesday after investigators found he had sex with a 16-year-old student during the previous school year, police said.

Adams was charged with sexual battery in January after police say he hid a 15-year-old from her parents in a motel and cabin and had sex with her.

Adams later admitted to having sex with the teen -- even exchanging vows and rings in the hopes of getting married.

Another student now says she also became sexually involved with Adams when she was 16. She told police it began after he coached her after school for several team activities.

Adams started to send sexual text messages, called her his "2nd girlfriend" and showered her with money and candy. It progressed to inappropriate touching and kissing during school hours in his classroom.

The student told police the two eventually had sex several times, including at the old Francis Marion Military Academy campus inside Adams' office after school.

Adams will be charged with two more counts of sexual battery and will be held at the Marion County jail.
