Photos of naked Brevard girls posted on Instagram

Deputies warn public of multiple social media accounts

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Brevard County deputies are warning the public that someone is soliciting and posting pictures of teen girls online, and some of the photos could be considered child pornography.

A profile appeared Tuesday on Instagram that was posting pictures of local Brevard high school girls with their names and where they went to school, deputies said.

The person behind the profile was requesting that people send him pictures of Brevard girls. Deputies said most of the pictures were captured from Snapchat.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office said one particularly explicit photo showing nudity could be considered "child pornography." In some of the other pictures, the girls were naked but their privates were hidden.

The profile on Instagram was taken down within an hour but had already gathered 2,000 followers. Investigators believe there may be up to 10 profiles done by the same person posting the pictures and information.

One of the profiles found online had 40 pictures of local girls before it was taken down, deputies said. Investigators believe that one person is behind the profiles and that this person is in Brevard County.

Investigators said they are in the process of identifying the accounts and determining if they have posted or contain inappropriate material.

Deputies said agents are also trying to determine the origin of the accounts and identify victims whose images may have appeared on the sites.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who believes that that they are a victim, know someone who may be a victim or has any information about this investigation to call Agent Christopher Castiello via the Communications Center at 321-633-7162, or Crimeline at 321-423-TIPS.
