'Urban explorers' go in Cocoa Beach Glass Bank building

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – For nearly 15 years, the city of Cocoa Beach has fought to tear down the dilapidated Glass Bank building and now with a demolition contract signed it's close to coming down.

But before the wrecking ball crumbles decades of history, a group of so-called urban explorers went inside, cameras in hand.

In a nearly 15-minute long YouTube video posted by a group called The Proper People, three men spent an August afternoon exploring the inside of the abandoned building.

At first, a spiral staircase leading to the building's bank vault caught their attention.

Then they were struck by rooms with vintage arcade games and hundreds of old documents and pictures.

But what they were most intrigued by was the top-floor penthouse, where owner Frank Wolfe lived before committing suicide in February.

"This place is really cool-looking," one of the men said in the video. "Yeah, this is probably the coolest place you're going to see in awhile."

But was it even legal for them to be inside?

Cocoa Beach police said they're aware of the video, but aren't investigating any criminal charges against the three men who, according to a posted sign outside the building, trespassed onto private property.

Police added that they aren't too concerned about the three men trespassing, citing that the building could be demolished as early as this month.

Local 6 doesn't encourage anyone to do what the group did. Trespassing can get you up to 60 days in jail, six months' probation and a $500 fine.
