Clermont roadway dedicated to fallen hero

Alexander Miller killed in Afghanistan in 2010

CLERMONT, Fla. – A small section of Highway 50 was dedicated Wednesday to a fallen hero, Specialist Alexander Miller, of Clermont, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan in 2010.

His mother, Sue Miller, said the sign, which reads Specialist Alexander Miller Memorial Highway, is a constant reminder of what he sacrificed for his country.

The 2-mile stretch runs from Highway 27 to Hancock Road in the city in which Miller was raised.

State Rep. Larry Metz helped pave the way for the highway designation and said the designations that will ensure that personal sacrifice is never forgotten.

Three other soldiers will be honored on different parts of the highway over the next few weeks.
