NASA chief scientist predicts alien discovery by 2025

Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan expects definitive evidence within 30 years

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Many have wondered if we are alone in the universe, but it turns out we may be closer than ever to finding alien life.

[VOTE:  Do you think alien life exists?]

NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan told a live webcast that she expects to see strong indications of life beyond earth by 2025 and definitive evidence within the next 20 to 30 years.

Stofan says much of the technology already exists to look for alien life, and NASA is on the path to finding out.

NASA is hoping to launch the next Mars rover and a mission to one of Jupiter's moons within a decade.
