Homeless man discovers forgotten bank account

Police officer, case worker help John Helinski get back on feet

TAMPA, Fla. – A Florida man says he has brighter days ahead.  After years of living on the streets, he finally has a roof over his head.

John Helinski spent the last three years on the streets of downtown Tampa, but now he has his life back.

Thanks to a dedicated case worker and police officer, Helinski now has a driver's license and Social Security card.  They also found an old forgotten bank account in Helinski's name.

The account had a substantial amount of money in it thanks to Social Security benefits piling up over the years.
