Orange County deputies search for serial burglar on bike

Man burglarized restaurants on South OBT, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County deputies are searching for a serial burglar who has been hitting businesses.

Deputies said the burglaries were reported between May 15 and June 1 at eight commercial businesses, mostly restaurants, along South Orange Blossom Trail. Most of the locations hit are between 11200, and 13000 block on South Orange Blossom Trail.

The man, who is described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s or 30s, deputies say, and would ride up to businesses on a bicycle, then break in by breaking the locks on the front door. Detectives say in most of the robberies, the man is wearing a backpack and gloves, but never seems to be wearing a mask.

"Over the past two or three days, he's hitting two businesses per night," said Detective Ellis Mitchell III.

The robberies started back on May 15, and during the suspect's second robbery, on May 17, he was caught on camera, breaking in through the Twistee Treat. In one of the camera shots, the robber can be seen picking up a rock and throwing it through the side window of the store, before robbing the cash register inside.

"You can see his face as clear as day," said Adam DeLeon, who works at a pizza shop that was broken into on SOBT last weekend.  DeLeon says the man picked the lock on the front door and once inside, went straight for the cash register.

Deputies are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the burglar's arrest.
