Police say 63-year-old Michael Friedman is armed and dangerous

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Winter Springs police are searching for a man accused of shooting and killing his ex-wife's boyfriend and injuring her.

Michael Friedman, 63, is wanted in the fatal shooting, which happened around 1 a.m. at a home on Osage Court in Winter Springs.

Police said an arrest warrant has been issued for Friedman for first-degree felony murder for the shooting death of James McCarthy, 49.

According to police, witnesses said that Friedman went to the home and opened fire, shooting McCarthy several times. McCarthy died after being taken to a hospital, authorities said.

"Literally I thought somebody had ran into the house. It was very loud, it was extremely loud," said neighbor Ryan Brooks. "We heard loud screams from a woman. I couldn't quite make out what she was saying, but they were fairly loud."

Friedman's ex-wife was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Two teens were inside the home at the time of the shooting but were not injured, police said. It's not known if they witnessed the shooting.
