Hearing in crowbar attack postponed after witness no-show

Rebecca Gotay accused of violating bond conditions

VIERA, Fla. – Circuit Judge James Earp signed an order Monday morning for state's witness Christophe Trevino to come before him Thursday and explain why he missed an 8 a.m. bond hearing for one of the teens involved in a crowbar attack.

"This is a monumental waste of time," a frustrated Earp said, when Assistant State Attorney Kari Kies asked the court to postpone Rebecca Gotay's bond revocation hearing when Trevino did not appear.

Kies informed the court that Trevino is still under subpoena and that her office had spoken with him on Friday and was assured he would be there to testify against Gotay, his ex-girlfriend.

The state expects Trevino to testify that Gotay violated conditions of her bond by using various social media platforms.

There is no new date yet for Gotay's bond hearing.
