1 killed after vehicle hits structure at Orlando Speed World

Victim taken to hospital, pronounced dead, Orange County Fire Rescue says

BITHLO, Fla. – Orange County deputies have identified the man who was killed after a vehicle hit a structure Saturday at Orlando Speed World in Bithlo.

Orange County Sheriff's Office officials said Chad Padgett, 41, was taken to a hospital as a trauma alert but pronounced dead.

Padgett's vehicle was traveling approximately 140 mph when he lost control of the vehicle, which then bounced off one wall, hit another wall and flipped on its roof, deputies said.

Deputies said Padgett had to be cut out of the vehicle by track officials and Orange County Fire and Rescue transported Padgett to Florida Hospital East, where he died.
