HUNTER'S CREEK, Fla. – Billy Gardell, who stars on "Mike & Molly," which airs Monday nights on News 6, officially opened a pizza shop in Orange County.
Gardell Bros Brick Oven Pizza had been in the works for years, but Gardell said the right opportunity came along in Hunter's Creek.
Gardell opened the pizza shop with his brother, Chris. The shop has been open for a couple of weeks but Friday marked the grand opening.
"The elements came together at the right time. My grandmother had a pizzeria in the '60s, so this is something that's been in our family for a while, and we wanted an independent place that felt like this is our neighborhood joint," Gardell said.
Gardell, who's scheduled to be at the shop for most of the day Friday, told News 6 that patrons will feel like family and won't want to go anywhere else for pizza, saying the sauce is the key ingredient.
"I'd tell you what was in the sauce, but then it wouldn't be a secret," Gardell said.
The Gardell brothers said they're happy to be in Hunter's Creek.
"We are proud of what we do here. The product speaks for itself. We want you to come in and have a good time," Gardell said.
