CLERMONT, Fla. – A Walmart employee was arrested after police say she stole a Halloween costume from a Clermont store.

According to a police report, employee Ashley Guy, 25, walked into the Walmart Super Store on U.S Highway 27 in Clermont on Wednesday and stole a nurse costume, cookies and earbuds.

The stolen items totaled $36, police said.

When Walmart loss prevention officers approached Guy, she admitted to stealing the items and concealing them in a Walmart bag, according to the report. 

Guy told officers that she stole the items because she didn't have the money to pay for them, police said.

The stolen items were found in Guy's hotel room, where she is currently living.

Guy was booked into jail on retail theft charges on $500 bond.
