WINTER PARK, Fla. – A man suspected of trying to break into a home was found stabbed to death Friday morning in Orange County, deputies said.
The fatal stabbing happened around 6:35 a.m. at an apartment complex on Oak Reserve Lane in Winter Park.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, residents called authorities to report that a man whom they knew was trying to break into their home.
"He was at the door. He was trying to break in," said Jane Watrel, spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "This is a second-story apartment, and this occurred at the door."
When deputies arrived, they found Michael Degracia, 24, dead of a stab wound, the Sheriff's Office said. Officials said the man, whose name has not been released, had been trying to get into the apartment.
Three people, one male and two females, were in the apartment at the time of the incident, deputies said.
One of the residents told News 6 they didn't want to comment on what happened, but he said everyone was okay.
Investigators tell News 6 this is the second time the suspect has tried to break into this apartment.
The first incident happened on Dec. 5, 2015.
Watrel said that case was forwarded to the Office of the State Attorney for the staff to decide whether to prosecute or not.
