Man described as 'habitual traffic offender' charged with aggravated battery
LUTZ, Fla. – A 31-year-old habitual traffic offender is accused of running over a man and woman on a motorcycle during an apparent road-rage incident that another motorist captured on cellphone video near Tampa..
According to Florida Highway Patrol incident reports, witnesses said Robert Paul Vance and 46-year-old Joseph Calderazzo exchanged "choice words" on Monday evening just before the vehicle changed lanes and drove into the bike. Calderazzo and his female passenger were knocked to the ground.
The report says Vance drove away but several witnesses followed him. Vance is also accused of sideswiping one of the witnesses.
The bikers weren't seriously injured.
Vance is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury. Court records don't indicate whether he's hired a lawyer.
