ORLANDO, Fla. – A man used a bat Wednesday morning to fight off a gunman, who was trying to break into his home, and the search for the gunman is underway, Orlando police say.
The attempted burglary was reported in the 4800 block of Lake Ridge Road.

Police said one of the residents heard a noise from the front door area, and a person kicked in the door.
The man tried to stick his hand inside of the door, but when the chain lock held, the resident tried to fight the man off with a baseball bat, according to police.
Police said the gunman fired five shots into the front door and ran away.
No injuries were reported and no suspect description was released.
Police are investigating the incident as an armed burglary attempt with shots fired.
