ROACHES GALORE: 6 more eateries shut down in Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – Last week, six more eateries across Central Florida were forced to close after a visit from a health inspector, according to state records.

These records show that the reported eateries experienced violations like pests, storage violations and more.

Furthermore, inspectors noted that roaches were a prominent issue for many of these locations.

However, all of the closed restaurants were eventually allowed to reopen after meeting inspection standards.

The full list of Central Florida eateries required to close last week is as follows:


APOPKA

  • No. 1 Chinese Restaurant — 38 E. Main Street
    • Closed on April 8
      • Nearly 10 live roaches found on premises
      • Operating with an expired license
    • Met inspection standards on April 9
  • Rosati’s Pizza Pub Apopka — 550 S. Hunt Club Blvd.
    • Closed on April 7
      • Nearly 50 small, flying insects found on premises
      • Bleach stored above clean utensils
    • Met inspection standards on April 8

CLEARWATER

  • Cristino’s Restaurant — 1101 S. Ft Harrison Ave.
    • Closed on April 8
      • Dead roach found on floor of walk-in cooler
      • A dozen live roaches found on premises, mainly by two-compartment sink
      • Time/temperature violations for bruschetta; mozzarella slices; cut tomato; mozzarella balls;
    • Met inspection standards on April 9

ORLANDO

  • Mimi’s Restaurant — 2161 Americana Blvd.
    • Closed on April 8
      • Live rodent found inside oven at cook line
      • Nearly 30 rodent droppings found on premises
      • Degreaser bottles kept next to spices at prep station
    • Met inspection standards on April 9

TAMPA

  • La Quinta Inn — 9202 N. 30 Street
    • Closed on April 8
      • Nearly 100 dead roaches found on premises near kitchen area
      • Over 10 live roaches found on premises near kitchen area
      • Apples at buffet weren’t wrapped in plastic or covered with any other protective coating
    • Met inspection standards on April 14
  • Wok-A-Holic — 2223 N. West Shore Blvd.
    • Closed on April 6
      • Over 50 dead roaches found on premises
      • Six live roaches found on premises
    • Met inspection standards on April 7
